It's the Friday News Dump. Because we're dumping news. And it's Friday. The Friday News Dump.
- Word is that Comcast is greasing the skids for Jeff Zucker's exit from his position as NBC czar after the big Comcast/NBC baby is shat out of the merger womb. It's about time that incompetent moron was fired because all he's done in his ten years at the helm is take a once-proud network and turned it into a fourth-place joke. Just take a look at this list and marvel at the garbage that's gotten on the air during his tenure. Good riddance. Somewhere Conan is laughing.
- HBO's Boardwalk Empire is testing very well with media buyers which is an encouraging sign for the pay network's would-be prestige project arriving in the fall. Also encouraging? This trailer, which we're linking for at least the third time on this blog. If you haven't watched it yet, DO IT ALREADY!!
- Interpol has chosen Dave Pajo, indie-rock veteran (and band killer?) to replace the departing Carlos D on bass for the band's forthcoming self-titled record, due to drop in September. Pajo is certainly a professional choice, but most of the bands on his resume are now defunct. Could Interpol be next?
- Nerd boner. Olivia Munn, from G4's Attack Of The Show and the upcoming NBC sitcom Perfect Couples, is in the midst of a tryout with The Daily Show as a correspondent. Yes, please.
- Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl are starring in a new movie, Killers, as a married couple who also happen to be assassins. Hey, Hollywood producers, could you possibly have come up with a more annoying twosome? Jesus. What have we done to deserve this kind of punishment? I know that as the United States we don't torture, but the Armed Forces might want to use this movie as a threat in any future interrogation techniques because it would be damned effective. What could be worse?
- Oh, this. This is definitely worse. "Herpes nest."
